Building-Level Electricity and Thermal Storage

Back to Buildings

Buildings are not only users of electricity from the grid, but can also be sources of grid flexibility. New low-cost modular electricity and thermal storage technologies, combined with advanced building controls, could allow buildings to provide large amounts of cost effective flexibility to the grid—which would in turn allow increasing penetrations of carbon-free renewable power on the grid, helping to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector.
